We are honored to offer new gentle advice through Gurujicomic
Our ‘Insight’ Comics, Greeting Cards & Apparel offer an inviting space
for asking life’s important questions, with answers found in the ancient wisdom traditions practiced in the mountains of Tibet and the Himalayas.
Gurujicomic's gently delivered advice, heartwarming, and compassionate, can calm the ‘untamed elephant’ of our restless modern minds through compassionate counsel, humor, and shared pithy inner wisdom.
WHO ARE THE CHARACTERS in GURUJICOMIC®? Guruji means "respected teacher." The wise sage at the top of the mountain is a common trope. But, usually, the guru (teacher) is old, male, with a white beard. The figure we see is non-gendered, non-age specific. We can imagine the wise teacher could be a woman, or a girl, a man, or a boy, or even an animal -- any sentient being!
Guru means “teacher” in Sanskrit traditions in India
and it is a powerfully important title found throughout the world:
~
Śifu in Mandarin
Sensei in Japanese
Lama in Tibetan
Tai in Vietnamese

Every culture has a term for Guru, -ji means “respected”
Guruji is shown shining with radiant light rays, symbolizing wisdom acquired through practice.
The second character is the disciple (that is us).
We are slightly lower on the mountain. Our goal, as seekers of wisdom, is to hike up to this height to spend time at the "feet" of the guru, and learn what we might when we humbly seek answers and listen with an open heart.
My first question to Guruji, imagining myself as disciple, was “Guruji, What is happiness?”
I waited… and listened… and the answer changed my life…

I started creating "Guruji" the character, with a disciple, in a peaceful mountain setting in India in 2012. Overall, I have spent over 30 years in Buddhist communities, across India, Nepal, Tibet, and across Asia, and Asian communities in the USA and Canada. Gurujicomic became a special spiritual friend and guide.
My father was a clinical psychologist, and almost nothing I did ever really impressed or moved him: but Guruji would make him cry. He would ask me "What would Guruji say?" And an answer would appear to mind. I trusted my inner voice and I would write it down, or speak it. Hence the comic was born. (My father is no longer with us, but in some ways, this is dedicated to his memory).
Thank you for visiting my site! This is all about and all for you, the one seeking answers (and the one knowing answers, but maybe needing to hear them)! Please share any feedback you wish to share, so this grows in a way that you feel works well.
